The latest ‘must-see’ exhibition in Melbourne’s Winter Masterpieces series, ‘Van Gogh and the Seasons’ is now open to the public at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV).
Over 21,000 people have visited the gallery’s blockbuster show in its first five days – an NGV record. More than 5.2 million local, interstate and international visitors have attended the annual exhibition series, generating $440 million for the Victorian economy.
Van Gogh and the Seasons exhibition invites viewers to contemplate Van Gogh’s life and experiences through his observations of the seasonal changes within the natural world.
Drawing extensively from Van Gogh’s letters and from research into his deep interest in literature and nature, Van Gogh and the Seasons explores the influences and themes that dominate much of this visionary artist’s work.
This one-off exhibition may be the only time Van Gogh’s amazing art will ever be seen down under.
